TAFELKOP – A 21 year-old lad from Tafelkop, Stanley Nyirende, has created an APP to help youth in the rural communities access information on how to get funding to study at institutions of higher learning.
The APP aims to assist struggling youth to get bursaries in time through easy access to websites with information relevant to learners before and post matric.
Nyirende said his move was activated by the realization of learners struggling to get bursaries due to lack of computers at their homes.
“I learned everything online until I mastered my skill. The APP is available on facebook for free and it will soon be available on Google Play for free. I would like to thank my teachers and mentors for encouraging me to go for the idea.
Bakgaga Ba Kopa Traditional Council’s Motjedi Matsepe said it was great to see one of their own creating something that benefited others in need. “We are proud to be giving this award to Stanley Nyirende as an example to others and it shows that one’s challenges cannot stop them from achieving their goals. Let us grow beyond our challenges and use the little we have to move forward as a nation,” said Matsepe
