Young doctor allegedly killed by boyfriend
POLOKWANE
The life of a young doctor was allegedly taken by her boyfriend last week. The slightly decomposed body of Intern doctor Shongile Nkhwashu (24) who has just started working two weeks ago at Mankweng Hospital was found by police on Sunday.
Police made the grisly discovery on Sunday evening after they were called by Nkwashu’s colleagues following a stench that was coming from her room.
They broke down the door and found her decomposing body on the bed.
The police immediately commenced with investigations and the suspect, who is believed to be the deceased’s boyfriend, was traced and arrested in Giyani on Monday .
The 25 year old suspect Ntiyiso Shilumane appeared before the Mankweng Magistrate Court on Wednesday. He was not granted bail and the case was postponed to 31 January.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba has commended the SAPS members for their quick response and speedy arrest of the suspect.
The motive behind this killing is unknown at this stage and police investigations are continuing.

She tweeted, ” six years of studies, hardly two weeks of employment as a medical intern, our beautiful, young smart Dr Nkwashu’s life was cut short at just 24 in the hands allegedly of her boyfriend.”
