The SAPS in Limpopo are warning all community members, especially parents and guardians, to be wary of the possibility of drownings as the summer rains persist in some parts of the province.
This after a 14 year-old teenager drowned on Sunday in an irrigation dam on a farm in Groblersdal.
“The deceased, Bafana Boshielo was playing with his friends next to the dam when they decided to swim. The teenager suddenly sank and by the time his peers rushed to raise an alarm, it was too late to save him. He was certified dead by the EMS,” said Limpopo SAPS’s Brig Motlafelo Mojapelo.
He added, “The deceased had gone to visit his mother at her workplace; a farm in the Groblersdal area, when the incident happened.”
Parents and guardians are urged to constantly look after their children and make sure they don’t access dangerous waters.
