The MEC for transport and community safety in Limpopo, Dickson Masemola said the government will work hard to curb political killings in the Limpopo province.
Masemola was speaking after the court appearance of Dan Tjie (35) and Kagiso Maroga (34) at the Praktiseer Magistrate Court. The two are accused of shooting and killing former Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s councillor Thabang Maupa back in November 2018.
The alleged killers abandoned their bail application, with their case being postponed to 6 December.
Masemola said the SAPS are making a breakthrough in the murders of other councillors in Mogalakwena.
“One suspect has been arrested with regards to the killing of councillors in Mogalakwena. We will continue with operations such as Swara tsotsi to curb political murders in our province.”
Masemola addressed hundreds of supporters who filled the court in support of the Maupa family.
He was accompanied by the Limpopo SAPS Commissioner Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba as well as other ANC members in the Sekhukhune area.
