against obesity was taken to a higher level this past Wednesday as various
organisations and businesses united for an awareness campaign.
The successful event was held at the Dilokong hospital and included a 5 km fun run and fun walk. It was organised by the Limpopo health department, the Dilokong hospital staffers as well as the Joy Riders bike club.
The fun run
started as early as 08:00. The runners started at the hospital entrance and
turned at the R37.
Young and old participated in this worthy cause. After the race, the runners were handed medals and prizes. The organisers also took time to educate and enlightening participants about obesity. This was in line with National Obesity Week, which is commemorated to increase awareness about the impact of obesity in the lives of South Africans.
The winner for the men’s race was Kamogelo Mnisi and the women’s race was clinched by Katlego Letlapa.
On the day, the Dilokong staff also announced the winner of the biggest loser challenge.
