DIKGALAOPENG – Ipopeng Cultural Group from Dikgalaopeng outside Groblersdal won the Best Sepedi Music Album Award 2019 while Nthwaleng Tlaka brought home the Best Traditional Attire Award, introduced for the first time as a new category last month this year.
Taking pride in the group, Kgoshi Rammupudu Boleu II during the welcoming reception at the royal house, said: “I am happy to see you back here to deliver the good news and we are proud to welcome our own stars home. We were waiting in anticipation before the announcement of the winners. And Ipopeng gave us an early Christmas present. We will be giving them the same support in the SEMA Awards 2019. We urge everyone to support and vote for Ipopeng in the coming Sepedi Music Awards.”
Rammupudu further congratulated the outfit and added that they were proud to have been blessed with another award winner in the community.
Ward 25 councillor, Maabane Maphopha, said they were sure the group would bring another award in the SEMA 2019 because they would be rallying behind them.
Nthwaleng Tlaka, founder and chairperson of the group, said extended words of appreciation to the support of those who voted for them including Kgoshi Boleu II, Jeffrey “Hlabirwa” Walker and Lekgotla Phetla.
Ipopeng Cultural Group has been nominated again in the Sepedi Music Award 2019, they won the 2018 award and they are the only nominee from Elias Motsoaledi.
