The D4190 road being erected between Leporogong and Ga Nkwana will officially be opened end of this month. The road project is constructed by Axton Matrix and was initiated in 2017.
The MEC responsible for roads and public works in Limpopo Sekutu Mochadi revealed that the upgraded road is about 95% complete. Mochadi visited the project along with Road agency Limpopo (RAL) and Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality’s officials on Tuesday.
The gravel road was a big concern to residents in the communities of Apel, Ga Nkwana Pelangwe and Ga Nchabeleleng.
The new road will link the R37 with Pelangwe and Ga Nkwana villages.
MJ Ratsoma, a councillor in the area said they are happy with the new road.
“Although the project is not 100 percent complete, but we are happy with the progress. The road was a major concern to communities residing in the Apel area and neighbouring communities. It was muddy during rainfall seasons.”
He said the local communities are happy that the project is almost complete. The new road is about 13.8 kilometres.
