Lekgema among the nominees in the LIMA awards


Among the finalists in this year’s Limpopo Music Awards (Lima) is Ngwaabe born Koboro Mishack Komane.  He is a nominee in the best traditional jazz album category.

Komane known by his stage name Lekgema is a traditional jazz and gospel artist. He hails from Ga Phasha and his album Sekhukhune Land is doing well in the jazz fraternity.

“ I grew up enjoying traditional music, I  learnt to play instruments such as a  trumpet, saxophone and others at a young age. My album is a blend of traditional jazz and some gospel.”

Lekgema has released his music under his own company called Lekgema Communications. In the album he   worked with the likes of Sammy Molobela, Jack Mojapelo,Mahlatse Apula as well as producer Seth Mathis.

“It is an honour for me to be nominated in the Limpopo’s biggest awards. It took me two years to complete the 14 track album. The nomination is proof that my hardwork is  recognise. I wish to win the award for the people of Sekhukhune, this album is dedicated to all of them. Its about the heritage of Sekhukhune and its traditions.”
