The communities of Steelport are corncerned about the nationwide abuse and femicide attacks. On 7 September about 50 locals ventured their displeasure by hosting aerobics, and a 21 kilometers marathon run. They also organized a march to the royal house of Kgoshi Mampuru.
Speaking to the Sekhukhune Times, organiser Evans Mabowa indicated that they aimed to make the public aware of the widespread abuse experienced by females and children.
“The aerobics as well as the marathon was in condemnation of the attacks on women and girl children. Some are raped while others are killed all over the country. ”
The residents marched from Mapantsula sports ground to Moshate Wa Kgoshi Mampuru. At the tribal house, they were welcomed by the Chief who also condemned the violence by men on women and children
