Capricorn District Municipality mayor, John Mpe has lashed out that if ward councilors don’t deliver their mandate to serve the people, they will be removed.

Responding to some of the concerned raised by the community at a public participation Imbizo in Ga-Ledwaba, near Lebowakgomo yesterday, Mpe maintained that councilors must work together to ensure service delivery or risk being removed.

“The next time we come here and there are still problems raised in this meeting and cannot be solved. We will start taking steps and come back to remove you as councilors,”Mpe said.

Some of the issues raised at the meeting included water shortages, roads and job creation amongst others.

Mpe said that the municipality was aware of all the problems affecting communities but blames some of the problems on crime and appealed to the community for assistance to arrest the criminals.

“We have transformers that get stolen here. If you steal a transformer today, tomorrow your community does not have water because the transformers supplies electricity to the borehole so that water can be pumped,”

He said that those who had I normative n criminal activities should go to the police station to report the crimes so those that are involved get arrested.

“We call on young people to engage with us as the municipality so that we can move away from all bad things in life,” Mpe appealed.
