Roommates robbed and raped in Polokwane CBD

POLOKWANE

Alleged robbers attacked two  roommates in Polokwane stealing cell phones, laptops and clothes worth around R22 000.

One of the victims was also raped by the suspects. The incident happened on 01 September, just a day after the completion of Women’s month.  It happened at the premises at corner Outspan and Potgieter streets in the CBD.

“ We have launched a manhunt for the suspects who, in the early hours of 01 September, at  about 02:50, broke into a room in which roommates aged 18 and 23 were sleeping, raped one of them and there after robbed them off  their belongings.

“The suspects, wearing dark clothes, entered the premises and broke the door of the room in which the victims were sleeping.

“After threatening them with a knife, one raped a 23 year old victim and thereafter robbed those two cellphones, two laptops and two wallets. They also took some of their clothes. The estimated value of the items robbed is R22 000.00,” revealed Limpopo SAPS’s Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Ngoepe said cases of rape and house robbery have been opened for further investigations.
