Polokwane mayor inspects unfinished project
GA-MAJA
Polokwane mayor Thembi Nkadimeng who has previously appointed as the new president of the South Local Government Association (SALGA) has on the 15th of August 2019 visited construction site in Ga Maja village, on which contractors are working, to inspect progress made.
According to Nkadimeng in the 2018/19 financial year two projects were not completed including sports complex in Ga Maja because they terminated the contract between the department and previous contractor as they found work to not be up to standard.
“Due processes were met in the termination process and the total budget for the Maja sports complex was divided into the three phases, with phase one budget at R16 million. She said there were no funds lost due to the termination and re-appointment of a new contractor,” said Mayor Nkadimeng.
“The previous contactor was only paid for the work they did. New contractor has been appointed and is currently on site going ahead with phase one. The construction is expected to be completed by the next financial year as all three phases are allocated on one financial year each.
