Operation Swara Tsotsi has seen 226 locals
arrested in Tubatse. The Limpopo SAPS embarked on the operation which is aimed
at curbing crime last Friday. They assembled at the Tubatse Crossing Mall
before raiding Extension 10 and other parts of
Burgersfort. The operation was spearheaded by Limpopo’s transport
and community safety MEC, Dickson Masemola.
Masemola said that they conducted roadblocks and stop-and-search operations as well as visiting businesses and tracing wanted suspects.
“When we leave this place today, it must never be the same. Those criminals, who thought they have found refuge in Tubatse, must know we are
here to close their space. When we are gone, other operations will continue to curb crime in Tubatse. We want to see our people living in peace and harmony,” said Masemola.
Among those who were arrested are suspects in murder, attempted murder, common assault, robberies, drug users and many more. 45 illegal foreigners were also arrested while 127 traffic fines were issued.
