Polokwane pastor convicted of rape
POLOKWANE
A 57- year- old Pastor from Seshego who is on trial for rape, James Thubakgale, appeared before Mankweng Regional Court on 20 August.
Thubakgale was granted R200, 000 bail. This after the defence brought in an application that they wanted to consult a private psychologist which the state opposed.
“The court ultimately granted him the bail. The accused was on trial for two counts of rape he committed during January 2012. He was on Monday convicted on both counts. One of the rape victims was a 14 year old minor,” Limpopo SAPS’s Mashudu Malabi said.
The Pastor, from the Deliverance Church of Christ in Seshego, is also facing several charges for the crimes committed in Seshego policing area for which he was also granted bail.
Thubakgale and other five members of his church will appear again at the Seshego Magistrate’s court on 27 August on multiple charges emanating from the crimes they allegedly committed around the Seshego area.
His co accused are aged between 24 and 59, they are also out on bail. The case in which he was convicted has been postponed to 21 and 22 October 2019 for sentencing.
