DENNILTON/MOKOPANE – A 34 year-old driver of VW polo died during a head-on-collision with an Isuzu bakkie on the R25 road near Dukuza Tarven in Dennilton on Monday.
According to Limpopo department of transport it is alleged that the driver of the VW Polo was driving recklessly and collided with on-coming traffic, an Isuzu bakkie at about 17:30 that day.
Matome Moremi, departmental spokesperson, said the possible cause of the accident was reckless driving and that two people were admitted to the local hospital with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, The South African Police Service (Saps) in Mokopane outside Polokwane are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a head-on collision that occurred on Saturday in which two people died.
According to police the accident occurred along the R101 road at about 15:00 next to Squirrels Lodge, a few metres away from Naboomspruit.
Constable Maphure Manamela, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said it was alleged that a grey VW Polo sedan, travelling from Mokopane to Gauteng collided head-on with a truck that was carrying cylinders, travelling in the opposite direction.
Manamela said the only two occupants, both males, of the VW Polo died instantly whereas, three men from the truck were rushed to the nearest hospital with serious injuries.
She said the cause of the accident was unknown at that stage but police investigations were ongoing. The deceased were not identified at the time of going to press.
