Traffic police officers robbed

MARBLE HALL – The South African Police Service (Saps) in Limpopo have assembled a multi-disciplinary task team to follow the tracks of suspects who robbed traffic police officers who were on duty in Marble Hall area on Friday afternoon.

According to police it is alleged that on Friday at about 15:15, the two traffic officers were on duty along the Slaagboom public road conducting speed trap duties when they in the process stopped a grey VW Polo TSI, without number plates, with five occupants, for exceeding speed limit.

Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said while the officers were busy issuing the driver with a written notice, three passengers alighted, two of them armed with rifles and the other one with a pistol.

Ngoepe said the suspects robbed both the traffic officers’ two cellphones, one firearm and the speed camera before they fled the scene.

“These suspects are still unknown and there is no arrest yet. Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects is requested to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501 or the crime stop number 08600 10111 or the nearest police station,” said Ngoepe. Major General Jan Scheepers, Limpopo Saps Acting Provincial Commissioner, expressed sadness over the irresponsible act and warned all those criminals involved in the matter that police were going to hunt them down around the clock until they were taken where they belonged
