BURGERSFORT
The community of Ga Manoke is mourning the death of two youth from the area. This comes after a man shot his partner and after turned the gun on himself. They were all confirmed dead. The incident happened inside the store on Monday, in full view of the woman’s colleagues and shoppers.
“It is alleged that, a 33 year old man arrived at the store where his 30 year old partner is working and without saying anything, he shot her to death in full view of other employees and customers and later, he was found lying dead within this shop, in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound and the firearm lying next to his body”, said Limpopo SAPS spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.
The police have opened a case of murder and inquest for further investigations. The motive behind this incident is not yet clear at this stage but domestic violence may not be ruled out.
The deceased were identified as Paulos Mokwana aged 33 and Valencia Mnisi aged 30, both from Manoke Village outside Burgersfort.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers, condemns in the strongest possible terms, the continuous acts of domestic related attacks and killings that are still prevalent in some areas of this province.
“Members of the community are once more advised and encouraged to seek professional assistance from the local authorities for intervention rather than resorting to violence,” concluded General Scheepers. The Police investigations are still continuing.
