LEEUWFONTEIN – Residents of Leeuwfontein Township outside Marble Hall suffered yet another setback when criminals blew up one of the Auto Teller Machines (ATM) in the area’s one of the busiest streets.
Residents said an explosive sound resonated all over the small township at just after 02:30 am on Friday morning when the criminals blasted the ATM.
Residents said they were not sure where the explosive sound came from as most were still asleep when it blasted.
Limpopo South African Police Service (Saps) confirmed the attack on the ATM in the area and said a case of malicious damage to property was opened at Motetema Police Station.
According to police the attack on ATM occurred on Friday, 07 June 2019 at about 03:00 at the township.
Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said it was alleged that the ATM machine was bombed by unknown suspects.
Ngoepe said there was no arrest yet but police search for suspects involved in the bombing of the machine was still underway.
