DENNILTON – The Bolsheviks Party of South Africa (BPSA) has come harsh on the Sekhukhune District Municipality’s fire brigade’s response to incidents.
According to BPSA, an opposition party in the district council, Sekhukhune fire brigade is not responding in time to incidents of fire devastating residents and businesses.
The BPSA complained that four families in the Dennilton area were not attended to in time by the SDM fire brigade when their houses were burnt down recently.
This after the recent Nkosi family house, at Tambo village of Dennilton, in Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality within Sekhukhune District, was ravaged by fire.
Sidney Nkosi, owner of the four-roomed house, unemployed living with his three children and one grandchild, said he was busy shaving his head outside when he heard a bombing sounding.
“When I investigated as to where the bombing came from, I realised that it came from the house. It seems like the electricity meter had exploded. Fortunately the children were at school at the time. I just thank God for that no one got hurt from the incident. We don’t have water in the area and that took us long to extinguish the fire. We lost everything,” cried Nkosi.
Seun Mogotji, BPSA leader, said the introduction of the SDM fire fighters made no difference because of their late response to incidents.
Mogotji said that was a clear indication that the people of Moutse were not taken seriously by the district municipality and government as please were made before regarding the availability of a fire station nearby the area.
Willy Mosoma, SDM Spokesperson, said they were aware of the incident at the Nkosi family in the reported area.
According to Mosoma said the SDM fire brigade as soon as it received a call and accordingly distinguished the fire.
He said allegations of late arrival were untrue as those of four houses, however, previously the brigade responded to all reported incidents in the area and their missions were successful.
