ROEDTAN – The South African Police Service (Saps) in Roedtan outside Marble Hall made a breakthrough when they arrested a 39 year-old man for possession of counterfeit cigarettes, knives and cellphones.
According to the police the arrest was effected during a patrol conducted along the N11 and R33 cross roads near Rathoke Weight Bridge.
Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the police pulled off a Toyota Rav-4 vehicle, searched it and found the cigarettes with the estimated street value of R80 000, cellphones and knives.
Ngoepe added the origins of the confiscated cigarettes would be determined through the ongoing police investigations.
Major General Jan Scheepers, Acting Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner, applauded the police on the job well done.
The suspect, Abycho Festa Leso, was granted was granted R5000 bail when he appeared before Modimolle Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 14 May 2019. His case was postponed to 13 June 2019.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
