Two men arrested for allegedly contravening the Electoral Act

Two men have been taken in for questioning by police regarding the theft of IEC voting materials in Guwela village outside Giyani. The duo allegedly contravened the Electoral Act and damaged properties.
Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says they are still verifying details around the detention. It is alleged that the two suspects were part of a group of men who were traveling in two bakkies. They allegedly attacked IEC officials who were leaving a voters’ home on Monday.
Special voting was then temporarily halted on Monday due to the incident.
Guwela falls within 10 villages in the Dzumeri area that threatened to boycott elections due to demands for a tar road. Limpopo
