TYD reaches out to rural schools
TAFELKOP– Eight rural schools in Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality received school uniforms, shoes and stationery through efforts of the Tafelkop Youth Development (TYD).
TYD is an online movement campaign which was initiated with the aim to connect young people in rural communities to opportunities, The movement campaign, with its members encouraged to share study and career opportunities to help rural youths support one another, can be accessed on social media networks such as Facebook.
Collins Matsepe, TYD Secretary, said the movement campaign was the future and it belonged to all young people in the province.
Matsepe said everyone was invited to partake in the movement and contribute to the development of the communities.
“We have realised that no one cared enough to do anything for the rural youth and the young people needed to stand and do it for themselves. We have thus far managed to secure bursaries and jobs for a number of young people,” said Matsepe.
He added that nothing was more satisfactory to them than seeing the smiles on the faces of the pupils when they received the material.
Matsepe further called on the business community and organizations to get in touch with the movement in order to help build the future of rural youth.
Sello Matsepe, TYD Chairperson, thanked everyone who contributed towards acquiring the donated material and the cooperation from the schools.
The beneficiary schools were Mmatholo, Bakopa, Jack Morare, Elias Masango, Onimus Mogafe, Jacob Sefako primaries, Bana Ba Pulane Pre-school and Ipelegeng Special School for the Disabled.
