Community calls for premier to intervene on road project
Zebediela
On Tuesday fierce community members at Madishaditoro village in Zebediela barricaded the Moletlane intersection road with burning tyres and heavy stones calling Limpopo premier to intervene on a D4036 road project that were promised to construct.
Community member Jonas Makhafola said they want to know what happened to the D4036 road that was supposed to be tarred from Madishaditoro to Motserereng village.
“The community is very angry because they have heard nothing but lies concerning the D4036 road. Road Agency Limpopo (RAL) took some portion of the soil for testing in 2017 but even today nothing has happened,” said Makhafola.
Community threatened not to cast their vote if the premier is not coming to their village.
The Limpopo department of public works, roads and infrastructure spokesperson Joshua Kwapa said the department works on a limited budget and therefore fails to undertake all the road projects under the timeline demanded by communities all at once.
Kwapa said currently they are re-gravelling the D4036 road and thus far about 6km of the road is completed.
