Six apprehended after Dennilton ATM bombing and business robbery

DENILLTON – Six suspects arrested for an Auto Teller Machine (ATM) and business robbery in Dennilton were denied bail when they appeared before Mdutjana Magistrates Court on Monday 08 April 2019.

According to police the arrest of the six aged between 24 and 39 years-old followed an incident in which a group of heavily armed suspects stormed into one of the supermarkets at the local shopping mall on 01 April 2019 at about 06:10.

Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the suspects threatened cashiers and customers before bombing and ATM and fleeing the scene, taking an undisclosed amount of money.

Ngoepe said during the manhunt operation, one of the vehicles the criminals used was later found abandoned a few kilometers from the crime scene in the area.

“In the process, two firearms and 19 ammunition, explosives, burned cash canisters and an Isuzu KB double cab were recovered,” said Ngoepe.
