Shoppers concerned about the bad state of Jane Furse main road
JANE FURSE
Several complaints had been recently sent to the Sekhukhune Times regarding the state of roads in the Jane Furse town.
Locals are dissatisfied with the potholed ridden roads in the town, especially the potholes on the main road.
Most revealed that they were concerned with the big potholes in the Jane Furse CBD while others also complained about traffic lights not functioning.
“Our municipality has neglected roads in Jane Furse, the potholes are too big, and one cannot even think he is driving in a town.
“We are fed up with this road. For years we complained to the local municipality, but nothing has been done,” said Elias Makola, Mokwete resident.
This publication contacted Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality’s spokesman Lemson Morapjane who highlighted that the Jane Furse area and its surroundings was hit hard by heavy rains and storms recently.
“We are actually dealing with a huge backlog. Infact, the torrential rains haven’t stopped, making the job even harder for our maintenance team.
“Currently, we have started with the maintenance on the Jane Furse main road since Monday, and the road will be fully patched probably by the end of this week,”Morapjane
