Police embark on crime awareness campaigns

In her quest to combat crime in her policing area, new station commander of Ohrigstad SAPS Capt Jeanette Nape led a back to school
crime awareness campaign at Maepa Primary School.
Nape was joined by the communications officer Sgt Kholofelo Phokane, Vispol commander W/O Morwapatla Supe, Community policing
forum, and Victim empowerment programme (VEP) members.
In her address to the management of the school and the pupils, Nape assured them that she is going to work closely with the
local schools.
“Children need to respect their educators and to refrain from speaking to strangers. Our schools have a problem of bulling. Bullying incidents must be reported to educators, parents and or the police. Children have committed suicide because of this kind of abuse. ”
VEP member Betty Msibi also took time to encourage the pupils to report anything that bothers them when they are at home as they are the eyes and ears of the police at the communities.
Maepa principal Stephen Mkhabela welcomed the visit by the police .He said the learners took a leaf from the police’s visit
