Local teacher’s dismembered remains found

Two Pakistani nationals aged 24 and 28 were nabbed on February 7, for the kidnapping and murder of a 36 year old woman,
Precious Mohlale Magabane. Magabane who was a teacher at a local school in Mashamothane disappeared on 23 December 2018.
Police spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says the two men were arrested following an intensive crime intelligence-driven operation that
was conducted soon after details of their alleged involvement in her disappearance emerged.
“The sterling detective work by our operatives led to the discovery of the remains believed to be that of the deceased. The dismembered remains were found disposed of at different locations in the area along the R37 (Burgersfort – Lydenburg road). They will be taken to the forensic department for DNA investigations,” Mojapelo explained.
Police also recovered a 9mm pistol, ammunition and a motor vehicle during the arrest. A cellphone belonging to the deceased was also recovered from
the seized vehicle. The motive for this gruesome murder is unknown at this stage.
Acting Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Jan Scheepers, has commended all members involved in solving the case and went further to thank
the community for providing valuable information.On Friday, the suspects appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrates Court on charges of kidnapping, murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.
“Both suspects were remanded in custody until Friday 15 February for further police investigations,” Mojapelo concluded. Meanwhile on February 12, some of the body parts believed to be of the deceased were dug by the police at Tswelopelo sports grounds.
