Lowveld Rhino Soccer Series in the pipeline
GROBLERSDAL – Plans are well underway to establish the Lowveld Rhino Soccer Series, a programme aimed at nurturing young talent locally.
According to Jeffrey Walker, Lowveld Rhino Soccer Series Marketing Director, the programme’s initiation came after realizing that most farm workers lived with their children at their workplaces where there are no recreational facilities that can help them develop their talents as in other areas where the facilities exist.
The initiative is partnership between Bana Ba Sekhukhune Community Solution, MK 23 Media in association with Lowveld Valley Farmers. It is further aimed at providing farm communities a platform to compete in sporting codes of choice and also in the creation of awareness on rhino poaching and its long term effects on nature conservation.
Walker said 16 teams from farms around Loskop, Groblersdal and Marble Hall would take part in the league and all games would take place on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
He added that champions would stand a chance be given trophies, medals and a cash price of R15 000.00 through the programme.
“It will be launched on the 2nd February 2019 at Groblersdal Rugby stadium where the first game of the league will be played between NH Pieterse and Gawie Labuschagne Trust,” informed Walker.
Herbert Radingwana, Programme Technical Director, thanked JQ Spares’Johan Fourie and NTT Toyota Groblersdal’s Reiner Cronje as well as Tafelkop Cash & Carry and Lowveld farmers for their support in the initiative.
“We appreciate your contribution to the farm communities. We are looking forward to a successful season and your cooperation and understanding will always be a reflection of great things,” added Radingwana.
Mina Tlaka, Chief Administration Officer, said farms were urged to register their teams before the 25th January 2019 to avoid being cut off.
“ To register contact Jeffrey Elfuego Walker at 078 685 3192 or Herbert Radingwana at 079 866 9276 or collect registration forms at BP/STEERS Groblersdal”, Concluded Tlaka.
