“On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh’’ says the bible on Mathew 2:11
Christmas is a time for love and gifts. These gifts come in different sizes and forms. It was a Merry Christmas at Dilokong Hospital for Dr Hlongwa and his trusted team. By 11am they were gifted with 3 boys and 1 girl with promises of about 2 more on the way. At 5:55 am Khomotso Motswane gave birth to baby Theron, She was then followed by Thabita Nkosi at 6:10am with her cute Siyanela. It was an hour later when Claster Lebyane gave birth to the only girl among the boys, beautiful Keitumetse. The last one to join the special Christmas babies was Bohlale mothered by Sophy Makofane at 8:45am. All four babies were in a great physical condition and they were healthy.
The silver lining in the clouds was when Hip Hop Cares Foundation showed up in the morning to give the babies their very first gifts. The gift bags were stuffed with goodies for the new mothers and a joyful engagement occurred during the exchange of gifts for these special babies. Thato Kekana of Hip Hop Cares Foundation told the new born mothers that the organization’s efforts must not be thanked verbally, if they extend a helping hand to anyone else who needs help, they would have completed the cycle of a better Sekhukhune.
Mrs Malaza thanked Hip Hop Cares for their contributions. “We are happy to have these kids, they are blessed to be born on Christmas day. Christmas is a day of giving and sharing, Thank you for sharing with us”. She further added that the perception that public hospitals give terrible treatment to mothers in labour is wrong and should be corrected by reporting nurses who drag the name of the public medical sector in mud.
Health ministry spokesperson Popo Maja said Gauteng the highest number of new borns in the country with 324 babies (148 Females & 176 Males). Limpopo presented 262 births with 138 girls and 124 boys
