Annual Marishane Sports and Marathon Festival a success

MARISHANE – Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Mayor, Minah Bahula together with Honourable Member of Parliament (MPL) Namane Dickson Masemola and South Africa’s Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates, Mogobo Magabe joined hundreds of athletes and fun loving people during the Marishane Sports and Marathon Festival recently.

According to the host Ward 26 Councillor, Merah Mahlase, the Marishane Sports and Marathon Festival was an annual gig to actively engage the community.

Mayor Bahula declared during the event the local municipality’s support and the desired work to be done in the improvement towards mass participation in activities of the Marishane Sports and Marathon Festival.

Honourable Namane Dickson Masemola (MPL) used his attendance of the annual Marishane Sports and Marathon Festival to boost the morale of veteran runners.

He invited the veterans to the podium to give them a special recognition for their consistency in participation.

Masemola said among the runners were pensioners who served as a good example to young people.

Among the veterans who have now become a common feature in the annual race that criss-cross Marishane village was the elderly Ntate Dolomo who finished the 15km race.

 

The organisers of the Annual Marishane Sports and Marathon Festival expressed their deepest appreciation to sponsors and participants who helped to take the event to the highest level.

Tlhoriso Masemola, one of the organisers, announced the sponsors of Marishane Sports and Marathon Festival in no particular order as Mash Braai House, Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, Care Med, Makgofane Construction, Ivy Function and Projects, Lemapo VW, KeYona Mobile, MEF Projects, Phuti Pele, E Fihlile Tau Couriers and Sehladima Logistics.
