IBS donates sanitary towels to pupils in Driekop
DRIEKOP
Several studies continues to indicate that lack of accessible and affordable sanitary pads has far reaching implications on the social and physical health on girls in South Africa.
In fact lack of sanitary pads has been proven to be a major determinant in achieving gender parity in our country. Indeed lack of appropriate and affordable sanitary towels a critical issue of sanitation, hygiene, mobility and dignity for all girls in South Africa, as well as Africa as whole.
In other research it was discovered that most girls miss out on average four days of school every month which leads to over a month in a period of a single year. This leads to them to fall behind in school work and some dropping out altogether.
Having seen the challenges faced by locals with regards to lack of sanitary towels. Interworld Bright Solutions (IBS) recently handed an avalanche of sanitary pads to local schools in Driekop. The two lucky schools are Nakgwadi High School and Sehaku Technical High School.
More than 500 girls benefitted from IBS’s sanitary programme. The organisation is planning to donate to more schools in the Fetakgomo Tubatse area. The two schools’s management thanked IBS for donating to their schools.
