SEKHUKHUNE – Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA), together with Sekhukhune District Municipality’s Local Economic Development Division held aiming to enhance their partnership.
This was revealed during their recent meetings that included the announcement of the new SDA Board Chairperson Ms Maureen Ntshudisane by Sekhukhune Executive Mayor Cllr Keamotseng Stanley Ramaila.
The energetic Ntshudisane brings with her a wealth of experience as a former board member, a former municipal manager and former chief operations officer serving both Ephraim Mogale Local and Sekhukhune District Municipalities.
The first leg of the session was held recently at Loskop Valley Lodge followed by the second leg in Bela.
The parties prioritized high impact economic projects that were ready to be implemented urgently. According to the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SDA Kgopelo Phasha, the two-day working session had among them a list of projects prioritized and one was a one-stop investment facilitation centre for Sekhukhune District Municipality.
“The centre will play a typical role in the branding of the district municipality. If we are to successfully brand the district as an investment destination, we have to deal with frustrations encountered by potential investors,” he said.
Phasha added that the centre will be a one-stop investment centre that will be in charge of all administrative functions such as lodging an applications, tracking the paper trail and short circuiting of the application process.
“This will make an investment sense to a discerning investor who does not have time,” Phasha said.
SDA Board Chairperson Maureen Ntshudisane, who was also duly appointed by stakeholders as the convener of the “Brand Sekhukhune” initiative, said they were committed to take Sekhukhune to new heights.
“Our aim is to re-brand the entire Sekhukhune region by mobilizing all stakeholders in order to market the district properly,” she said.
Ntshudisane added that “Brand Sekhukhune” initiative plans were in place and would be communicated through various events to be held in the near future around the district. “Brand Sekhukhune is our collective platform to unite the people of Sekhukhune behind the warrior spirit of our founding father King Sekhukhune I. Our initial pilot programme is to coordinate Brand Sekhukhune Events Combo on 30 November and 1 December 2018. The combo events include the feedback session on Sekhukhune Community TV’s which is currently pending broadcast license, Miss Sekhukhune Beauty Pageant, Sekhukhune Boxing Night and Sekhukhune Multicode Sports Festival,” concluded Ntshudisane.
