Potholes remain a concern to residents
BURGERSFORT
It looks like it will take months for the government to finally ensure good pothole-free roads all over Tubatse. Residents have expressed their concern about the deplorable condition of the D2537 (old Penge road) which links with the R555 to Ohrigstad and Burgersfort.
According to them, the road is dilapidated and abandoned. Trevor Mohlala said it had become so bad to the extent that motorists always avoided using it and resorted to the R37 which is a longer and busy route.
“Look at the deep holes next to Dresden, they are deepening more and more with heavy rain. The road may collapse before long.”
Another local said the D2537 “is bad and needs urgent intervention by government. The potholes are just too many and are increasing by the day. If nothing is done urgently, parts of the road may soon become ponds.”
Sekhukhune Times contacted RAL’s Matome Sekuba who indicated that they have embarked on a campaign to fix all the roads in Limpopo. “We initiated a war against potholes, and soon we will be in the Burgersfort area to ensure all roads are up to standard.”
