Ga Manoke’s Mafemane Primary School cruised to Durban recently. The tour started on the 26 of August at 03:00. There learners were accompanied by their parents to the school.
“We used Vuthi Mlilo bus and it arrived at 03:30 AM. There were 55 learners and they were accompanied by ten adults in the bus, 6 teachers and four SGB members,” said teacher Rhrifos Mohlanga.
According to Mohlanga they drove from the school via towns such as Burgersfort, Lydenburg, Dullstroom, Belfast, Carolina and Ermelo. “From Ermelo we used N11 toll route until we on-ramp on the N3 toll route that led to Durban. We arrived at Durban Impala hotel, were we checked in at about 16:00. We managed to prepare food for the kids and let them rest,” he added.
“On the 27 of August we went to Ushaka Marine for the pupils’ educational tour.”
From Ushaka Marine they went back to the hotel to change their attire and put on the swimming costumes. The team then proceeded to the sea. On the 28 of August, their last day, the kids went to Moses Mabida Stadium for a stadium tour.
Mohlanga said the kids were happy to see the stadium and took pictures outside and inside the stadium.
He told Sekhukhune Times that the tour was a success. “On our way back home we phoned the parents to wait for their kids at the school, we arrived at Mafemane at 02:00 in the morning and all the parents were notified of the arrival time.”
