Marota School wins the Baswa le meetse competition

Local school Marota Primary is flying the Limpopo flag high, the school recently won the Baswa le Meetse (youth in water) national competition for 2018,
On August 2, dignitaries from the department of water and sanitation visited the school to celebrate the remarkable achievement.
The event included the school management team, members of the community, and former teachers as honoured guests.
Speakers praised the school for grooming the learners and ensuring they participate at the highest level.
Marota won the 2018 competition in the singing and poetry category. The school took home a trophy and R20 000 winning price.
According to the pupils’educator and mentor Dr Kgoshigadi Sekhukhune, Baswa le Meetse is a school based programme aimed at addressing public education with special focus on learners at basic education level.
“Expectation is that learners will continue to raise awareness in their families and ultimately encourage a behavioural change for better water use practices in our communities. Learners are the best educators and they are able to change the mind-set of their families and entire community.”
