DENNILTON – The South African Police in Dennilton outside Groblersdal have launched a massive manhunt for suspects following the torching of a vehicle belonging to Sekhukhune District Municipality Chief Whip, Tseke Lepota.
Police said the torching of the Chief Whip’s vehicle occurred in the early hours of Friday 20 July 2018 at morning about 03:00 in Mpheleng village, Ntshwelemotse section.
Captain Mamphaswa Seabi, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said it was alleged the Chief Whip was asleep while his vehicle was parked outside the garage when he heard his dog barking.
Seabi said when the Chief Whip went outside to check, he discovered that his vehicle was on fire.
“Police were summoned to the scene and they reacted swiftly and then a manhunt for the suspects ensued,” explained Seabi.
He said the motive behind the incident was not clear at that stage but further police investigations would tell.
“The suspects are still unknown and there have not been any arrests,” added Seabi.

Lepota told the paper he believed the torching o his BMW 650, worth over R700 000, was politically motivated because he had no enemies as a person.
“I have no enemies in my life. I think the torching of my car is politically motivated,” said Lepota.
