Modikwa miners participate in various sporting games as part of wellness campaign

Hundreds of Modikwa Platinum Mine’s workers participated in various sporting activities last Wednesday July 25. This was part of the mine’s annual wellness campaign. The mine recruited their workers to participate in sporting activities that included cycling, marathon and a fun walk.
The miners gathered at the Montrose Sports field where they participated in a fun run, fun walk, cycling, netball and the 5 a side soccer competition. Busses collected the employees as early as 12:00 to have them ready on time for the games. The management also competed in a soccer match that involved legends of the game.
The cyclist’s starting point was Shaft 2 while the fun runners started at the Main gate entrance. The fun walk participants started their walk just next Modikwa clinic. Varius prizes and trophies were handed for the best athletes and the Shaft that excelled in the day’s activities.
The Mine’s Wellness officer Zelda Dzivhani told Sekhukhune Times that they want healthy, active and dedicated employees.“ The games encouraged our employees to be more active and to have some form of exercises. Most enjoyed the sessions and the management will organise more of this kind of events.” The participants were handed goodies such as caps and T Shirts.
