Baroka Ba Mashabela Community Development (BMCD) is non-profit organisation based at GaMashabela village.The organisation is consists of twelve members. BMCD celebrated youth month were it held soccer tournament at Mohwelere village on 22 June.
Twelve football clubs was participated. Three sports ground was chosen to utilised. BMCD chairperson, Mogale Sello said the main aim of their event was to interact with the community to address social challenges.
Mogale said Fun walk volunteer walked from Mashabela clinic to Molebeledi T-junction and returned to Mohwelere at Madoda Sports ground.
“As ward twenty five we realised that something has to be done for youth. Then we invited ward twenty five football clubs to partake in the event. We gave each football club a free ball,” said Sello.
He said Madoda football club walked joyfully away with the trophy. “We invited various stakeholders such as South Football Association (Safa), local artists, Mashabela clinic home based care and South African Police Services (Saps),” said Sello.
“Social challenges had been addressed such as teenage pregnancy, substance drug abuse and human trafficking. Safa representatives advised local teams to registered with them to get sponsors,” said Sello.
BMCD secretary, Shadrack Mokhabela affirmed event went successfully because over 300 people were gathered. He said young talented artists were given platform to entertain the audience. “We give ourselves credits because it was our first event to hosts. Community support was priceless. However we felt that the local municipality did not displayed themselves as we expected. We hope in future municipality will contribute to our events,” said Mokhabela
