Impostor involved in businesses crimes wanted
MODIMOLLE – The South African Police Service (Saps) in Modimolle has launched a massive manhunt for a suspect involved in a spate of serious crimes at various businesses.
Police said the manhunt follows an incident in which an unknown man entered a local shopping mall pretending to be a labour inspector and informed the manager that he needed to inspect businesses inside but later disappeared.
Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the suspect further went to one of the car washes in the area, introduced himself again as an inspector and asked a 50 year-old manager to see his phone as it had cracks on the screen.
Ngoepe said preliminary investigations have revealed that after conducting his inspection at the car wash, the impostor disappeared with the manager’s cellphone.
“We believe that this suspect might have committed a number of crimes using the same modus operandi in and around the area or beyond but police investigations will tell as they are still unfolding,” explained Ngoepe.
The South African Police Service is calling upon the man pictured to come to Modimolle police station or the nearest police station to assist them with investigations.
Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect involved in the crimes may contact Detective Sergeant Amanda Rossouw at 071 133 8524 or the crime stop number 08600 10111 or the crime line sms 32211 or the nearest police station.
