Burgersfort SAPS visits schools during child protection week

Around 1 200 learners in Tubaste were reached during Burgersfort SAPS’s Child Protection Week awareness campaign at 13:00 on Friday, 25 May. The Burgersfort communications and crime prevention officer, Const. Victoria Maluleke , accompanied by Victim Empowerment, Community policing forum and members of the Youth Desk paid a visit to Maelebe Primary School and Highlands College. During the visits, they discussed issues like drugs and alcohol abuse and kidnapping of the learners.
Maluleke urged the learners to break the silence on crime activities and to report bullying.

At Maelebe, the police donated five school uniforms to the needy learners at the school. “Among those learners was one victim of crime, the parents of the learners also attended to witness the excitement.
