GROBLERSDAL -Police ongoing intelligence led operations composed of the Provincial Drug Unit and Crime intelligence managed to dismantle drug syndicates in various areas throughout the province over the weekend.
Police said in the Groblersdal policing cluster, a suspect was arrested for possession of dagga and dagga sachets estimated at the street value of R2 000.00, which police recovered.
According to Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, eight suspects aged between 20 and 52 were arrested for possession of drugs in Seshego, Lephalale, Modimolle and Thabazimbi areas during the same crackdown.
Ngoepe said police recovered drugs estimated at the street value of R11 475.00 and cash amount of R8 050.00 subsequently.
“In the Northam area outside Modimolle, police searched a suspicious RDP house in Block 3 through which the search, a plastic bag found carrying 25 packets of dagga with the estimated value of R60 000.00 following which a suspect was arrested,” explained Ngoepe.
Ngoepe said the police crackdown was evident that police fight against the mushrooming of drugs and drugs trafficking in the province was gaining momentum and continued to produce fruitful and meaning results in all clusters within the province.
All the arrested suspects were expected to appear before various Magistrates Court soon.
