Gang of most wanted suspects nabbed

BURGERSFORT – Police in Burgersfort have arrested six most wanted suspects in the cluster during a coordinated intelligence driven operation comprising members derived from various units.

Police said the suspects ranged from 23 to 30 years-old ages and included an ex-police reservist also believed to be a kingpin behind various crimes.

Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the members followed up on information about the suspects who have been tormenting community members in the Burgersfort cluster.

Ngoepe said the suspects committed serious crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, business robberies to carjackings.

He said one suspect was arrested in Groblersdal, three others cornered at Bothashoek and Ga-Mashamothane villages outside Burgersfort. The other two suspects were nabbed in Tafelkop and Luckau villages also in the Groblersdal cluster.

“A former police reservist who is believed to be a kingpin behind these crimes was arrested at Ga-Selala village in the Mecklenburg policing area. Subsequent to his arrest, two pistols and a rifle were recovered at his home,” explained Ngoepe.

Police said the suspects were subsequently linked to two armed robberies at Burgersfort Engen garage, two armed robberies at Tubatse Crossing Mall, two armed robberies at PPS garage in Burgersfort, a hijacking of a Toyota Avanza and murder in Burgersfort, a house robbery in Tubatse, four business robberies in Ga-Mashamothane and Riba Cross, an attempted murder during a shootout with police more than a week ago in Burgersfort and a carjacking in Tubatse.
