Winnie Madikizela Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid, anti-Activists, Politician and the ex-wife of the late first black President Nelson Mandela. She was born at Mbizana in Eastern Cape Province on the 26 September 1936 and died on the 02 April 2018 at the age of 81. She was married to Dr Nelson Mandela in 1958 and divorced in 1996. She was blessed with two daughters namely Zinziwa and Zenani Mandela.
Winnie was a leader of ANC Woman’s League. She studied a degree in international relations and a degree in social work from University of Witwatersrand. She was awarded United Nations prize in the field of human rights, freedom f the city of Abredeem. A township called Winnie Mandela in Tembisa was named after her. And school in Braamfischerville called Nomazamo Madikizela Mandela was named after her.
She was the superwoman who kept the Mandela name alive. And let the history talk and be taught right into the cerebrum of every young woman of South Africa about his heroine. She shall forever be loved by those who understand and know who she was and where she comes from. She was a fearless woman, woman of substance and a freedom fighter.
