SAMWU workers unimpressed with FTLM management and leadership

BURGERSFORT- The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) members were on a go slow on Tuesday.

The workers union directed letters to several organisations requesting solidarity support. In one of the letters trending on social networks.

Samwu alleges that tenders at the recently merged municipality were given to selected individuals. The union also alleged nepotism in hiring and promotions of staff at the FTLM.

Samwu also pleaded for the solidarity support from the local business forum and other stakeholders.

The union alleged that the ANC regional secretary Jerry Maseko requested the former accounting officer JNT Mohlala and the current mayor Johannes Phokane to invest R200 million with the VBS bank which they say is a mutual bank and not a registered bank

On Tuesday when the Sekhukhune Times visited the municipality, workers were still in a meeting with the management.

This publication did not have the outcome of the meeting at the time of print. Meanwhile Samwu officials promised to release a media statement with regards to the matter.  The protest is expected to continue till tomorrow.
