Family escape death after their home was petrol bombed

MABOCHA – A family in Mabocha are lucky to be alive after their home was petrol bombed on Monday morning.
The Lesese family in Mapareng told Sekhukhune Times that they heard a loud bang at about 02:00.
“After the bang, I woke up to find that our home was covered in smoke. I went outside and realised one of our bedroom was on flames. We called for help and community members assisted to douse off the fire,” said homeowner, Ronny Lesese.
He said no one was injured during the fire, but most of their belongings and furniture were burned to ashes.
“Only one room of the five was burned during the blaze. We also successfully rescued our kids.”
He said he believes it was “an attempt to murder me and my family” because the petrol bomb was thrown through the bedroom he sometimes uses.
Tubatse SAPS arrived an hour after the fire.
Limpopo SAPS spokesman, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe said they are aware of the incident and are hard at work with investigations.
According to the police, this is not the first incident in which a home was petrol bombed in the village.“ We are also investigating another incident in the same village where one person was killed after his home was petrol bombed.”
