BURGERSFORT – Highlands College held its in-house athletics meeting last Friday. The games were attended by proud parents and school staff. The little highlanders were divided into four teams: the Phoenix, Dragons, Frost and the Highlands. The athletes competed and gathered points in the 60-, 80- and 100-metre races.
By the end of the day the Phoenix team were crowned the winners. The school’s personnel worked hard to ensure that every pupil had a fair opportunity to take part in different items. School principal, Fatima Mahomed said that the scorching heat did not disturb the athletes from showing off their talents. “We are a school that values sport. Our children are introduced to different sporting codes which include soccer, cricket and more.”
