Former police spokesman identified as victim found in burned out Mercedes Benz

LEBOWAKGOMO-The police have through DNA forensic investigations succeed in identifying the victim whose remains were discovered in the burned Mercedes Benz that was parked in the bushes adjacent to the R37road between Lebowakgomo and Burgersfort.

The deceased has been positively identified as former Colonel Mohlabi Lazarus Tlomatsana who retired on pension from the South African Police Services on 2007-08-31 at the age of 60.

He was attached to the National Corporate Communication and Liaison in Pretoria at the time of his retirement.
The gruesome discovery was made by the passer-by on Saturday morning 2018-02-03. The police were alerted and reacted swiftly. The victim appeared to have been tied inside the vehicle when it was set alight.

Moatshe Ngoepe Polokwane spokesman said: “The police have launched a manhunt for the assailants and nobody was arrested so far. The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage and investigations are still continuing”.

“We are making an appeal to anyone with information that can help us in arresting this culprits to go to their new home which is prison, to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 0798945501 or Captain Matsobane Chuene at 0824143345, said Ngoepe.
