Police recover jewellery robbed at NWJ stores

BURGERSFORT – A police search has been launched for thieves that robbed jewellery at Tubatse Crossing Mall’s NWJ stores on Monday.
During the incident three armed suspects entered the store and took jewellery worth thousands of rands.
“The suspects fled the scene in a Toyota bakkie and were heading out of town on the R555 road when they were intercepted by members of the SAPS Provincial Tracking Team. The trapped suspects started shooting at the officers, who returned fire until a high speed vehicle chase ensued,” said police
spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
The chase led to the suspects’s car losing control and bumping an electric pole alongside the road. The suspects managed to flee the scene and disappeared in the bushes.
“The robbed items were recovered and the Toyota which was used by the suspects, was reported stolen last week Friday night during a house robbery in one of the townships in Tubatse,” said Ngoepe . The police indicated that the suspects were still unknown and there was no arrest.
Anyone who can assist the police with information which can lead to the arrest of these suspects ,may contact Capt Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or the crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line SMS 32211 or the nearest Police Station
