TAUYATSWALA-Trio Task Team and Mahweleng Cluster Detectives arrested three (3) suspects aged between 23 and 39 in Mahwelereng outside Lebowakgomo.
The business ordeal started when he was approached by two suspects at Tauyatswala village who pointed him with what looked like a firearm. He was delivering stock to the local shops in the area. The suspects robbed him of stock to the value of R60000 and loaded all the stolen goods into the victim’s bakkie. The suspects then drove to the bushes riding the victim’s car and demanded ransom for his release.
Members of the community alerted the police whom released more men in blue and started with the search until the poor victim was found, luckily alive.
Breakthrough was made within days when the kidnapped victim was made on Saturday located along the road linking Mokopane and Tinmyne after he was released by the suspects.
Lerato Nyalungu (42) said: “I was on my way to the spaza until I realised that the poor Indian guy was held hostage. I rush back to my home and tell my husband. Without a blink of an eye he called the police whom reacted swiftly but they were late as the stock, bakkie and the poor man were already gone. We are living in fear as we don’t know whose going to be the next victim” said Nyalungu.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said: “Three suspects were nabbed after one of them attempted to commit another robbery at Ga-Mokaba. We have managed to arrest three and the fourth suspect is still on the run but is known to the police. The goods that were robbed were recovered on Sunday night together with a canopy of the vehicle, the vehicle and the toy gun” said Mojapelo.
The arrested suspects will appear soon in Mahwelereng magistrate court on charges of Business robbery, kidnapping and attempted armed robbery.
