Drowning is a serious matter in Limpopo.
BLOOD RIVER-The police at Seshego just outside Polokwane are investigating an inquest case following the death of a middle aged man who drowned at Blood River village on Friday last week.
Church members go for baptising with the idea of wanting to remove badly luck and be born again, not knowing that it’s a life hazardous threatening.
It alleged that the pastor who was baptising a follower church member in his church got drowned inside a local river. One of the church attendances notified the police who reacted swiftly and the search operation ensued by the police search and Rescue Unit until the body of the deceased was retrieved from the water.
Moatshe Ngoepe of the Polokwane SAPS said: “Members of the community are cautioned to be careful when using dams and rivers for any other reason including the religious activities
He added that “We want to warn members of the community that as much this year’s s. They are encouraged to enter inside water through the close monitoring and supervision of the water experts to prevent this type of incidents to happen in the future” he said.
Seasonal rains are minimal; the current water in our dams can still be life threatening if approached without the necessary precautions” said Ngoepe.
